Georgia Down Payment Assistance Programs

There are a number of home buying programs available through the federal government, state, county, city and nonprofit organizations. All programs have different criteria and requirements. We assist clients with finding the right program. 
Below is a list of a few programs available.

• Georgia Dream Homeownership Program

The Georgia Dream Homeownership Program provides first mortgage loans, down payment assistance and home buyer education to eligible home buyers. An eligible borrower must not have owned a home in the past three years or must be purchasing a home in a targeted area. The borrower must meet income and purchase price limits, have limited assets, and must invest at least $1,000 into the purchase transaction. For more information, click here.

• Dekalb County Homebuyer Program

The program provides funds to assist homebuyers with costs associated with the purchase of a home in DeKalb County. The form of assistance used for the down payment assistance program will be HOME funds in the form of deferred payment loans. Down Payment Assistance will be provided to eligible recipients in an amount not to exceed $8,000. Funds will be secured against the property as a zero percent (0%) interest deferred loan for five (5) years. In the sixth (6) year repayment requirements of down payment assistance funds will be forgiven. For more information, click here.

• Fulton County Homeownership Program (HOP)

Citizens who want to make a home purchase in Fulton County can now seek assistance from the Home Ownership Program (HOP) funded by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Borrowers may be eligible for up to $10,000. For more information, click here.

• The City Of Atlanta Home Buying Programs

The Atlanta Development Authority has homeownership assistance programs for qualified borrowers who want to live in the city of Atlanta. Some programs may be combined to maximize funding assistance. For more information, click here.

• Gwinnett County Home Stretch Program

The Homestretch Down Payment Assistance Program provides down-payment assistance to income-eligible homebuyers who have the capacity to purchase a home but lack the money needed for a down-payment. This program offers down-payment assistance up to $7,500 as a five-year deferred payment loan with 0% interest to qualified homebuyers who occupy the home as their principal residence for a period of at least five years. • Clayton County Down Payment Assistance Program (CDPA)

Clayton County, administers the CDPA through funding from the US Department of HUD, with those funds the county offers $5,000 towards down-payment and/or closing costs to income eligible and credit qualified families who purchase a short sale or foreclosed single-family home within the county, excluding the city of Morrow, GA.
